High Wind Warning Affects Boone County

DES MOINES, Iowa—The National Weather Service in Des Moines has updated the High Wind Watch that was issued Monday and affected much of Iowa to a High Wind Warning.  A High Wind Warning means sustained winds of 40 mph for one hour of more and/or frequent gusts of at lest 58 mph are expected in the next 36 hours.

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON WEDNESDAY TO MIDNIGHT
CST WEDNESDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...West to Southwest 30 to 40 mph with gusts of 60 to 70
  mph expected.

* WHERE...Much of Iowa.

* WHEN...From noon Wednesday to midnight CST Wednesday night.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
  Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be
  difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.
