BOONE, Iowa—HIRTA is excited to offer an exciting new program in Boone! We have a set weekly schedule to take group trips to the grocery stores. The day and time depends on which store you would like to visit.

One of the biggest reasons riders should consider utilizing this program is to help HIRTA’s mission of being eco-friendly. Many riders enjoy riding on a set schedule, as it gives them the ability to plan, so this program is a great fit! Having a set schedule will also save the rider and HIRTA time, which means it is more efficient and less costly.

Another benefit to riding the grocery shuttle is the opportunity to meet fellow riders and the possibility of making friends on the ride. Some of our riders are at-risk for social isolation. We are hoping to combat that by grouping riders together and encourage camaraderie.

Lastly, this program allows us to provide more rides! Taking a group trip to stores frees up other drivers allowing us to schedule more rides, which benefits everyone in the community.

During the month of February, HIRTA will be offering these grocery shuttles at zero cost to the riders. So, please try it and together let us make this a successful program in Boone.
