BOONE, Iowa—A train derailment east of Boone at the Landus Elevator is creating a traffic issue this morning. Locomotives used to maneuver grain cars at the elevator were being moved when the incident occurred. The locomotives left the Landus track and is partially blocking traffic at Highway 17 or “T” Avenue. It’s expected to take several hours to get the road cleared. Emergency personnel suggest that the public avoid the route at this time. This is not a Union Pacific train but Union Pacific train traffic could be affected.
