BOONE, Iowa—The Boone High School speech team performed at the District Large Group Speech Contest at Ankeny Centennial High School on Saturday, January 22, 2022. After competing virtually for the last year and a half due to COVID lockdown, this is their first in person contest since March of 2020. Twenty four students competed in seven ensembles with seven students competing in two events. Two of Boone’s seven performances earned the highest rating (1).
A single judge evaluated each performance, awarding students a rating on a scale of 1-4 as well as offering a written and oral critique, so that students can work on refining their performances for the State competition if they receive the highest rating of a 1 to advance.

- Ensemble Acting performing Between Good and Evil by D.M. Larson included Caitlin Alber, Jason Prazak, and Sierra Sherry,
- One Act Play performing Romeo and Juliet by Larry Nehring and William Shakespeare included Alex Cunningham, Kaitlyn Chadourne, Collin Holman, Allie Hunter, and tech support by Maddie Smith.
