BOONE, Iowa—Haley Marie Masker, age 27 of Boone, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Boone County Hospital from a pulmonary embolism.

Haley was born on February 6, 1995, in Des Moines, IA, to Rose Masker and Mike Mitchell. Haley spent her first few years in Des Moines before moving to Boone in 2003 when her mother married her step father, John DeLavergne. Haley graduated from Boone High School in 2013.

Haley worked briefly in the electronics department at Walmart in Boone. She was an avid writer and had a goal of becoming a published author. Haley had recently become active in the Boone Community Theatre (which she loved). She was a bookworm of horror fiction and enjoyed hanging out with friends and watching movies.

Haley was preceded in death by her grandparents, Don and Sandra Masker.

She is survived by her parents, John and Rose (Masker) DeLavergne and Mike Mitchell; her younger brother, Dustin Masker; grandmothers, Norma DeLavergne and Joan Fatino; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Haley’s Family or Boone Community Theatre.
