BOONE, Iowa—Janis Leann Anderson, age 77, of Boone, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel. Burial will be held in the Linwood Park Cemetery.

Born on August 31, 1944 at the Boone County Hospital, Janis was the daughter of Leon “Bud” and Maurine (Poulson) Stark. She graduated from Stratford High School with the Class of 1962.

Janis lived in the Stratford and Boone Communities. She worked at Boone County Hospital as the Business Office Manager until her retirement.

Janis had a great sense of humor and there was never a dull moment when she was around. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren. Janis was a foodie and loved going out to eat and trying new dishes. Janis enjoyed hosting holidays for her family. She liked to cook and was famous for her Maidrites and Macaroni and Cheese. In her free time, Janis liked to go shopping. She had a special place in her heart for her cat.

Janis is survived by her children: Jeff (Chris) Wilhem of Woodburn, Jerry Wilhelm of Boone, Natalee Holth of Boone, Dusty Anderson of Boone, and Tracy (Becca) Anderson of Boone; grandchildren: Nicole (Matt) Strange, Melissa (Jeremiah) Brown, Stacy (D.J.) Luhrs, Jeffrey (Dakota) Wilhelm-Thomas, Chelsea Wilhelm (Kolt Breer), Abby Sorber, Chanin Wilhelm (Zach Larson), Thomas Clabaugh, Parker Taylor, Wyatt Anderson, Ian Anderson, and Avery Anderson; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Janell (Paul) Wellhausen of Glen Carbon, IL; a nephew, Ted (Megan) Wellhausen; and a niece, Katie (Dustin) Jumper.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas; and a son, Travis Anderson.
