Boone Voters Defeat Bond Issue

BOONE, Iowa—Voters from the City of Boone easily defeated a proposed bond issue that would have allowed the city to sell up to $10-million in General Obligation Bonds to be used for the construction, improvement and equipping of a wellness and recreation center facility. A 60% majority was needed. there were 1,025 no votes and 881 yes votes. Voter turnout was over 20%. The vote results are unofficial until canvased by the Boone County Board of Supervisors next week.
