Boone Arbor Day Ceremony Held Saturday Morning

BOONE, Iowa—Great weather greeted Boone officials and volunteers Saturday morning for the city’s annual Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony. The event, much different than what many remember several years ago with the Johnny Appleseed Tree Planting program, was much smaller scale and included the planting of a limited number of trees in city parks. This year, the ceremony was held at Anderson Park, 1010 Aldrich Avenue. Boone Mayor pro tem Steven Ray read the proclamation for Boone Mayor John Slight. The tree planting ceremony is one part of qualifying as a Tree City.
