BOONE, Iowa—Joyce Craun, age 83, of Boone, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 in the Fellowship Hall at Central Christian Church, 803 Greene Street, Boone, Iowa. There will be a luncheon and time of fellowship following the Celebration of Life.
Born on January 23, 1939 at home in Boone, Joyce was the daughter of Perry and Eva (Allen) Martin. She graduated from Boone High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Donald Craun on August 16, 1958 in Omaha, NE. Joyce raised their six children and retired as a custodial supervisor from Iowa State University in October of 1994.
Joyce was very proud of her family. She loved attending her grandchildren’s ball games and watching her grandson race. Joyce enjoyed camping and fishing. She also did different crafts including Swedish weaving, crocheting, and ceramics. Don and Joyce also liked to go dancing. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles and the Rod and Gun Club.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Donald of Boone; her children: Brinda Van Cannon of Boone, Mike (Jackie) Craun of Boone, Eva (Jerry) Walters of Boone, Karen Grove of Boone, Jeff Craun and his significant other, Shannon Taylor of Ames, and Carol Ann (David) Musser of Boone; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Edna (Jim) Miller of Boone. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Donald Grove; brothers: John Martin, Harold Martin, Perry Howard Martin; and sisters: Lola Martin, Florence Celmer, Myra Stoneburner, Nellie Stumbo, and Lois Henry.
