AMES, Iowa—Ames Police have made an arrest as a result of their investigation into a shooting early Monday morning.
On May 30th at 12:45 a.m. the Ames Police Department responded to Mary Greeley Hospital for a victim of a gunshot wound. Officers discovered the shooting occurred a few minutes earlier in the 600 block of South 17th Street in Ames.
Later Monday, members of the Ames and Story County Emergency Response Teams executed two search warrants at 4709 Steinbeck #4 and 108 Jewel Drive #104.
The searches were conducted to further on-going investigations. While conducting the search on Jewel Drive, 18-year-old Wunnie Conteh of Ames was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an Aggravated Misdemeanor related to an incident on May 20th.
Today, Ames Police identified a suspect in the case and charged a juvenile male, 15 years of age, with Attempt to Commit Murder, a class “B” felony. The juvenile has been taken into custody and transported to juvenile detention.
The victim of the gunshot wound remains hospitalized in stable condition. He has been identified as 18-year-old Anthony M. Davis of Ames.
According the press releases from the Ames Police Department, this case remains under investigation with the potential for additional charges.
