BOONE, Iowa—Travis Daniel Watson, 51, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa, on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
Travis was born on March 8, 1971, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Daniel Watson and Cindy (Young) Watson. He graduated from Boone High School in 1989. Travis enjoyed playing football for Boone while in High School. He also enjoyed cooking, grilling, and in his younger years, hunting. Travis enjoyed being an uncle and loved giving his nieces and nephew a hard time. They loved giving Travis a hard time as well.
He worked for the Boone Parks Department in the summers and attended DMACC in Ankeny, graduating with a degree in welding. After graduating from DMACC, Travis worked for General Filter in Ames until they closed. He then went back to DMACC and attended Culinary School and after graduation, went to work for the Ames School Districts lunch program until he became disabled. Travis had a long battle with numerous health complications over his lifetime.
Travis is preceded in death by his grandparents: Errett Young, Anita (Jack) Peters, and Luella and Elmer Watson; Aunt Errita Lingelbach, and cousin Andy Moore.
He is survived by his father, Daniel (Becky) Watson; mother, Cindy Watson; sister, Brittie Crooks (Justin Bovero); aunt, Barb (Mike) Barker; uncle, Larry Young; aunt, Claudene (Pete) Peterson; nephew, Tristan Crooks; nieces, Tacey Crooks and Addison Bovero; cousins: Chimene Peterson, Bob Peterson, Troy Young, Micah (Parvez) Faisel, and Ayrrin (John) Kostelnick, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone. Graveside services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Boone Moose Lodge following the graveside service at Mineral Ridge.
