The purpose of the smoke testing is to identify areas where unwanted storm water enters the sanitary sewer system. The smoke that is used is non-toxic, leaves no residue, and creates no fire hazard. City crews and WHKS personnel have distributed door hangers in the affected area to led residents know about the testing. Because of buildings downtown, residents may see drones being used for testing purposes. Additional information continues to be made available on the Boone City website.
