BOONE, Iowa—Lois Mae (Wilcox) Hess, age 82 of Boone and the Eastern Star Masonic Home, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022.

Lois was born on October 6, 1939 in Boone. Lois was united in marriage with LaVerne Collison. He passed away on August 18, 1975.

Lois worked at the Boone County Home until it was closed, then she worked at Genesis Development until her retirement.

Lois was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone. She enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting in her younger years. In recent years, she loved playing BINGO and watching NFL games. Lois did not have a favorite team but she would watch all the games she could.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband LaVerne; and siblings. She is survived by her sons, Dale (Lisa) Erb of Ankeny and Chris (Jackie) Smalley of Boone; grandchildren, Ryan and Emma Smalley, Kasie (Dan) Beck, Logan (Miranda) Erb, and Joshua and Oliver Erb; 2 great grandchildren; sisters; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family for later designation.
