BOONE, Iowa—Scott A. Russell, age 61 of Kutztown, PA and formerly of Boone, IA, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.
Scott was born on September 27, 1961 in Boone, IA, the son of John and Mary (Stumbo) Russell. He attended Boone Public Schools.
Scott married Teresa Burch in August of 1983. From this union were two daughters, Danielle and Amanda. The couple later divorced.
Scott was united in marriage with Rhonda R. Bowes on August 22, 1992 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. From this union were two sons, Joshua and Carson. In August of 2005, Scott, Rhonda and the boys moved to Pennsylvania for new opportunities and to see a different region of the U.S. Scott worked as a plumber and pipe fitter, most recently at Kutztown University.
Scott loved watching football; He was a Raiders fan and lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. The most important thing in Scott’s life was his family and spending time together. Scott was a kind husband and father; he was wise in many areas of life. Scott was always there to answer a question or help solve a problem.
Scott was a faithful Christian throughout his life, but when he became ill his faith grew exponentially. He dedicated special time each day to pray for his family and friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, John Russell. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; mother, Mary Russell of Boone; daughters, Danielle Russell and Amanda (Matthew) Hollinger, all of Des Moines; sons, Joshua Russell and Carson Russell, both of Kutztown, PA; in-laws, Fred and Ruth Bowes of Boone; brothers, James (Cheryl) Russell and Randy Russell, all of Boone; sister, Cheryll (Matt) Schell of Roland.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, south of Boone.
