BOONE, Iowa—Philip Hoffman, age 66 of Boone, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the Boone County Hospital.
Philip Max Hoffman was born on November 30, 1955 in Davenport, the son of Max and Regena (Walsh) Hoffman. He attended Clear Creek High School in Tiffin.
Philip was united in marriage with Sharon Atkins and welcomed two sons, Philip and Jason. The couple later divorced.
Philip was united in marriage with Brenda Harris on August 8, 2008 at Don Williams Recreation Area in Ogden. Philip worked for Madden Trucking until his retirement in 2011 due to his health.
Philip enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping. He loved fast cars, especially his 1967 Chevelle; In his younger years, he helped others with their race cars. There was a special place in Philip’s heart for dogs, especially his favorite pup Hunter.
Philip may have had a rough and tough exterior but he had a heart of gold. You would know Philip loved and cared about you if he was hard on you. He always looked forward to family reunions and his mom’s fried chicken.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Danette Gadbaw; his puppy, Hunter; and grand puppy, Bear.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; sons, Philip M. Hoffman of Perry and Jason W. Hoffman of Elma, WA; sister, Barb (Roger) Russell of Earlham; brother, Joe (Terri) Hoffman of West Chester; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
A private family graveside service will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery near Earlham. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the American Legion Post 158 in Earlham.
