Posted on 02 January 2023 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council meets Tuesday evening at 6:00 at the Boone City Hall because of the observance of the New Year’s holiday on Monday. The Council will be discussing their options for filling a vacancy on the Council with the resignation of Steven Ray. Ray had served 19 years on the Council as member at-large and mayor pro-tem. He submitted his letter of resignation on Friday, December 23rd, effective midnight December 31st. In his letter to the Council, Ray says he desires to return to private life. Ray’s term runs through 2023.

Traditionally, the Council has sought letters of interest from people interested in being considered for appointment to fill a vacancy. The last vacancy occurred in the 4th Ward when Terry Moorman was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Kevin Hicks. A petition was submitted for a special election and Moorman won the election.
