OGDEN, Iowa—After a comprehensive statewide search, the Ogden Board of Education is
pleased to announce that Joshua Heyer has been hired as the next superintendent of schools
for the Ogden Community School District.
Mr. Heyer is a career educator with experience working in the Waukee, Johnston, Saydel and Winterset school districts. His broad and varied career closely aligned with the criteria established by the school board at the beginning of the search process.
Mr. Heyer has a proven track record of improving student achievement, and he is known for designing systems that promote student learning. The School Administrators of Iowa (SAI) has regularly called on his leadership to mentor principals around the state. He is recognized statewide as a strong instructional leader and looks forward to working with the school board, administrative team, staff, and community, to advance the district’s strategic plan—ensuring that financials, facilities, and operations all run smoothly.
Currently, Mr. Heyer serves as the 7th-8th grade building principal for the Winterset Community School District. He has three children: Chandler, Carson, and Ella, and he is married to his wife, Denna.
Mr. Heyer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in technology education from the University of Northern Iowa, a Masters of Science in education from Drake University, a specialist in education degree from Drake University, and he has also completed doctoral work in the area of technology education.
Mr. Heyer will begin his duties with Ogden on July 1, 2023 and will work closely with Dr. Pam Dodge on the transition.
