Community Foundation Grants Benefit Boone County

Boone County, Iowa — Boone County groups have benefitted from grant awards from the Boone County Community Foundation.  Various projects in Boone County have received funding from Foundation.  In 2022, $160,815 was awarded to 35 County organizations.  

Since 2005, $1,754,093 has been distributed in Boone County from this fund to 109 different recipients.

Examples of projects that were funded include: Boone and Ogden High School Boosters. Iowa Gardening for Good food project, Boone Area Humane Society improvements to animal shelter and home building for Habitat for Humanity. Other recipients include: Boone County ISU Extension and 4-H, Boone County Fairboard, Boone Community Theatre, Friends of the Ledges, The Madrid Historical Society and the Y Camp.

Any 501(c)(3), not-for-profit, 107b unit of government, or potentially qualifying charitable organization operating in or for the benefit of Boone County is invited to pursue grantmaking objectives and obtain an application from Boone County Community Foundation. The deadline for 2023 grant applications is February 3, 2023.

The Boone County Community Foundation is pleased to utilize an upgraded on-line application process this year.  The application and information is now available for online grant application.

By the way, the Boone County Community Foundation Board will be hosting our annual foundation Informational Meeting on January 19, 2023 from Noon-1:00 pm at the Boone County ISU Extension and Outreach Office (1327 SE Marshall Street in Boone, Iowa). Cookies and coffee will be provided.

The goal of this meeting is to provide you with the tools needed to complete the foundation grant application process. We will be covering the history of the Boone County Foundation,  learning about the scope of past grant awardees, the grant application process, review the timeline of grant acceptance and approval and hold a discussion of what makes an excellent grant application.

We hope participants will gain valuable insight into what the board is looking for and how their final grant awards are selected. Attendance is not required to apply.
