STRATFORD, Iowa—Beverly Crouthamel Hagaman, age 94 of Stratford, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Beverly Jean Baird was born on January 17, 1929 in Boone, the daughter of Harry C. and Lydia (McCaskey) Baird. Bev graduated from Boone High School in 1947 and continued her education at Minneapolis Northwest College in 1947 to study medical sciences.
While growing up Bev’s family-owned McCaskey’s, a restaurant in Boone, where she was raised and worked through school. Bev enjoyed visiting her parents’ lake house at Spirit Lake through childhood and later with her children.
Bev was united in marriage with Kenneth Lee Crouthamel on August 21, 1948. From this union were four sons, Steve, Dan, Scott and Curt. Bev and Ken owned Crouthamel Furniture and Appliance in west Boone through the 1950s and 1960s. Bev later worked for Boone County Hospital as a laboratory technician through the 1960s and 1970s. Kenneth passed away in 1988.
Bev was united in marriage with George Hagaman on April 18, 1990 in Boone. George and Bev enjoyed traveling and wintering to AZ for more than 25 years. Bev and George were involved in Stanhope Watermelon Days, the Lions Club and volunteering at Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad.
Bev enjoyed gardening, sewing, upholstery work and collecting dolls. She would make and dress dolls then donate to the Salvation Army. Bev enjoyed Norwegian rosemaling, receiving awards at the Iowa State Fair for her artwork.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Kenneth and George; son, Steve Crouthamel; and two sisters, Anne and Maxine. She is survived by her sons, Dan (Jackie) Crouthamel of Lake of the Ozarks, Curt (Angie) Crouthamel and Scott (Marsha) Crouthamel, all of Boone; daughter-in-law, Helen Crouthamel of Boone; eleven grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no services held at this time.
