BOONE, Iowa—Sharon Nadine Thompson, 88, of rural Boone County, passed away on January 17, 2023, at Boone County Hospital. She was born on October 31, 1934, to Albin and Violet (Phipps) Aspengren. She was a graduate of the Boone Community School District. Sharon was married to Richard (Dick) Lee Thompson. Their union of marriage on June 14, 1953, was blessed with four children.
She was a homemaker, gardener, and farmer’s wife. Sharon and her husband of 60 years, Dick, were co-founders of P.F.I. (Practical Farmers of Iowa).
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, and two great-grandchildren.
Sharon is survived by her son Roger (Barb) and their children Amy (Joe) and Emily (BJ); daughter Renae and her children Brooke (Bob), Megan (Tim), and David; son Ryan (Duanna) and their children Jenna (Curtis) and Jacob (Heather); and son Rex (Lisa) and their children Jessi (Robert), Sara, TJ, and Cole. She had 22 great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be held at Linwood Park Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for them to use at their discretion.
