BOONE, Iowa—Kevin Howard Bouk, 65, went to be with the Lord at his home in Boone, Iowa, on Friday, February 10, 2023. He was born on July 25, 1957, in Port Washington, New York, the son of Mary Anne and Kenneth Bouk (Caldararo). On June 14, 1980, he married Lauri Ann Martin at Parsons Primitive Methodist Church in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
He was a jack of all trades; completing technical school and working anywhere life led him. He was skilled in plumbing, construction, electrical work, cooking, and making cheesy jokes. Before moving to Boone in 2000, he worked in a wide variety of fields, one being the caretaker of Pocono Mountain Bible Camp. There he utilized all his skills to care for the grounds, introduce & maintain technology and entertain the many campers and staff that passed through – while also showing them the love of Christ. He also spent many years immersed in his passion – music. Kevin was a DJ from 1988-2008 and never stopped bringing music into each and every day.
Always a child at heart, Kevin never missed an opportunity to crack a joke, making those around him smile and laugh. He loved the humane society, rescuing many dogs throughout his life, giving them second chances. In the same way, Kevin cared for those around him, being an “adoptive” father & brother to many who crossed his path.
Kevin loved his family, devoting his life to loving and serving them with all his years of knowledge and wisdom. He was steadfast, never giving up on finding a solution, and always showing up in times of need – ready to lend a helping hand.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Anne & Kenneth Bouk, his sister, Helene Fazzari (Bouk), and his father-in-law Eugene Martin.
Survivors include his wife – Lauri Bouk (Martin), children – Andrew Bouk, Daniel Bouk, Joshua Bouk, & Britney Bouk, mother-in-Law – Jo Ann Martin, godson – Richard Zindle, brother-in-Law – Mark Martin, brother-in-law – Timothy Martin, sister-in-law – Sheri Zindle, and his beloved dog Chester. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews. Kevin will be missed by the many people who called him son, brother, husband, father & friend.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Boone, with Pastor Janell Bloem officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Boone Area Humane Society.
Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements.
