BOONE, Iowa—More than 130 Fareway locations throughout Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, Missouri, and Illinois will be raising funds to empower the lives of children and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related neuromuscular diseases from February 27th though March 18th for the annual MDA Shamrocks campaign to benefit the mission of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Funds raised go towards accelerating research, advancing care, and advocating for the support of families.
Fareway associates are asking guests to round up their purchase at check stands for the MDA. Fareway joins thousands of other retail locations throughout the country in this year’s campaign — the nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day-themed fundraiser.
“The Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Shamrocks campaign has raised funds for research and care for people who live with a neuromuscular disease. Fareway is honored to have been a part of supporting this mission-critical work for over 30 years,” said Fareway CEO Reynolds W. Cramer. “Thanks to the generosity of Fareway customers and employees, we can help MDA make a difference in the lives of individuals living with a neuromuscular disease.”
First teaming up with MDA in 1992, Fareway’s partnership has since expanded beyond Shamrocks to include a corporate golf tournament, involvement with MDA’s Summer Camp, and numerous other events throughout the year. Fareway and MDA’s 30-year partnership has raised millions of dollars to help empower local families living with muscle disease.
The MDA Shamrocks campaign benefits the MDA Care Center at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funds raised also make MDA Summer Camp possible for local children. This summer program is an opportunity for children to learn vital life skills, make life-long friendships, and experience independence, at no cost to their families.
