BOONE, Iowa–Laurie Coffman, age 79 of Boone, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023 at her home.
Born Laurie May Hodges on August 27, 1943 at home in Boone County, the 8th of 10 children of Edgar and Edna (Needham) Hodges. She attended a one room school house until it closed, then moved to Ogden Public Schools through the 11th grade.
Laurie graduated from Gilbert High School.
Laurie met Curtis Coffman in 1974 after Curt was discharged from the military. They were united in marriage in 1978 in Boone.
Laurie was an avid flower gardener, enjoyed mushroom hunting and collecting a variety of items. She was a member of the Church of the God of Prophecy in Boone and the Moose Lodge No. 104.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Kathy, Rose, Pete, Viola and Bob. She is survived by her husband, Curt; children, Pam (Jim) Cullen of Spencer, Julie (Keith) Walters of Ogden and Larry Warren of Ogden; grandchildren, Terrance McCauley, Brandon (Carrie) Barkema, Cassie (Tyler) Boeke, Caleb Frye, Mason Warren and Lora Warren; great-grandchildren, Jackson Barkema and Eleanor Boeke; along with numerous extended family members.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets. Visitation will be held one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.
