BOONE, Iowa—The results are unofficial until canvased by the Boone County Board of Supervisors, but Boone County voters have selected Andrew Godzicki to be their next Boone County Sheriff. Godzicki had been appointed by the Boone County Supervisors to fill the vacancy created with the retirement of Sheriff Gregg Elsberry. He took over the office on January 1st. A resulting petition called for the special election. There was just under 14% voter turnout and Godzicki collected 1,400 votes to 1,273 votes for Deputy Cory Rose. Godzicki, Rose and Chief Deputy Cole Hoffman had all expressed an interest in being appointed to fill the vacancy. Hoffman did not participate in the special election.
