BOONE, Iowa—Duane Anderson, age 78 of Boone, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home.
Duane Edwin Anderson was born on November 2, 1944 in Boone, the son of Edwin Rudolph and Zylpha May (Quinn) Anderson. He graduated from Boone High School and attended Iowa State University. Duane served in the Air Force.
Duane was united in marriage with Barbara McNace on September 8, 1968 in Boone. From this union were four children, Mike, Brian, Christine and John.
Duane was honored to be a member of the Boone County Freedom Flight of 2017.
Duane took over his family’s business, Anderson Heating, Plumbing and Air Conditioning; He installed the HVAC in the Boone Scenic and Valley Railroad along with many other jobs around Boone County.
Duane was well known by many. He was a “business by a handshake” kind of man. The kind of inspiration we all aspire to be. Though he went by many titles over the years; Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather were among his favorites. The devotion and love he had for his family ran deep and are felt in waves and ripples throughout the generations he started. He will be profoundly missed.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Carroll “Dick” Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Barb; children, Mike Anderson, Brian (Elizabeth) Anderson, Christine Anderson and John (Faith) Anderson, all of Boone; grandchildren, Shakira Miover, BJ Anderson, Mikayla Anderson, Dalton (Rendi) Anderson, Colby Miller, Hannah Anderson, Roddrick Anderson, Destiny Anderson and Aaron Anderson; great-grandchildren, Brianna Anderson, Ihla Anderson and Baby A on the way; sister-in-law, Martha Anderson; along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Cremation will take place following services.
