BOONE, Iowa—Boone High School Junior Lacy Hansen has earned second place in the America’s
Next Great Intern contest, presented by Rubin Education.
Hansen was one of 15 finalists throughout the nation selected in the high school/post-secondary
division. The first, second, and third place winners, along with the overall middle school winner, will
receive a banner for the school to display.
As part of the contest application, Hansen submitted entries demonstrating professional skills such
as a professional handshake, professional phone calls, collaboration, resilience, and professional
emails.
“We are incredibly proud of Lucy’s hard work and dedication that has led to this outstanding honor,”
said Julie Trepa, Superintendent of Boone Community School District. “She was up against some
of the top students across the country, and our community worked diligently to spread the word and
help her get the recognition she deserves.”
Hansen was the only student from Iowa selected as a finalist in the competition. For more
