URBANDALE, Iowa—HIRTA announced today you can now schedule rides online. This feature is made possible through a grant from the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center (NADTC).
Earlier this year, HIRTA was awarded an implementation grant from NADTC to meet the needs of underserved populations and continue HIRTA’s inclusion efforts. This new online scheduling feature allows riders to book rides in over 100 languages. The feature is live on HIRTA’s website.
Julia Castillo, HIRTA’s Executive Director, said, “Through focus groups, rider surveys, and various other channels, we identified the language barrier was sometimes an issue when scheduling trips. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment for our communities, so taking this step to offer scheduling available in multiple languages was really important to us. This grant allows us to make some of these changes and create a more inclusive environment for all.”
HIRTA would like to thank the NADTC for the opportunity to improve transportation across central Iowa and bring a more inclusive experience for all. Visit www.RideHIRTA.com/DEI to learn more about HIRTA’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
