BOONE, Iowa—It is with great sadness that the family of Marvin Walter Pearson announces his passing on June 24, 2023, at the age of 86 years old.
It was Marvin’s wishes to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 14, 2023 at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, prior to the memorial service at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery near Adel.
Marvin was born in Boone, Iowa on February 8, 1937, the son of Oscar and Viola Pearson. He was born, raised and lived his entire life in Boone, IA. He graduated from Boone High School in 1955. On August 1, 1960, Marvin married Karen Smiley at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Marvin will be lovingly remembered as a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Marvin served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1962, which was one of his most proud accomplishments. He then finished a 4-year carpentry apprenticeship and enjoyed a lifelong career as a carpenter at Iowa State University and owned and operated Pearson Construction. Marvin attended Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, IA his entire life. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, and family time. He loved country music and also enjoyed activities that included music and dancing with friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Pearson; his parents; and eight siblings. Marvin is survived by two sisters; two brother- in-laws; one sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Children: Michelle Johnson (Noel Johnson) of Berthoud, CO, Jeff Pearson (Shelly Pearson) of Ames, IA, Jennifer Pearson (Michael Mashburn) of Metamora, MI, five grandchildren: Jamie Fisher-Evans (Jess Evans) of Gilbert, AZ, Lindsey Fisher of Ft. Collins, CO, Megan Cruchelow (Darren Cruchelow) of Ankeny, IA, Stephen Pearson (Megan Pearson) of Mount Vernon, IA, and Laramie Rewerts of Clinton Township, MI; one great-granddaughter: Charlotte Cruchelow of Ankeny, Iowa.
