BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Emergency Management has prepared a list of locations in Boone County were residents may seek shelter from excessive heat.
In anticipation of high temperatures with a heat index in the triple digits Thursday July 27th and
Friday July 28th in Boone County, Iowa the following areas will designated as Cooling Centers:
City of Boone:
The Boone County Courthouse First Floor will be available from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Erickson Public Library will be available from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
The Boone County Hospital Atrium will be available 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Salvation Army will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
City of Madrid:
The Madrid City Hall will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
-Speak with the City Clerk to have the Community Room Opened from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
City of Ogden:
The Ogden City Hall will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Leonard A. Good Community Library will be open from 10 AM to 5 PM
Cooling Centers are facilities where persons can temporarily go during periods of extreme heat.
Few to no services are provided beyond what is normally available in that building. If you are
experiencing a heat related emergency please contact 911.
