BOONE, Iowa—Albert Eugene Porter, 81, of Boone, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023, at his son Kevin’s home in Boone.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Albert was born October 16, 1941, in Boone, the oldest of four children, to Fred and Martha (Eckhoff) Porter. He attended school in Boone and graduated from Boone High School.
Albert was united in marriage to Sheryl Davidson on June 8, 1962, in Boone. They were blessed with three children.
Albert was employed by Volger-Neimens Auto, at the Gillespie Dealership, and then retired after 16 years from Pat Clemons all in Boone. He was known as one of the best auto detailers in the business. Albert was always out in the garage tinkering with things, either building something or planning his next projects.
In his earlier years, Albert loved coon hunting and trapping, which he shared with his oldest son. He had many hounds, a passion that no one could deny. Albert’s humor was one of a kind, and his wit was undeniably quick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 53 years, Sheryl in 2015; two sisters, Linda Davidson – Hasstedt and Elizabeth Flattebo Stapes.
Albert is survived by his three children and their families, Randy (girlfriend, Michelle Firkins) Porter of Emmetsburg, Kevin (Michele) Porter of Boone and Becky (Brian) Brauch of Boone; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Lydia Jackson of Audubon; and several nieces and nephews.
