DES MOINES, Iowa—The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has released the most recent fuel and report and the price of regular unleaded gasoline rose 23 cents, averaging $3.81 across Iowa according to AAA.

Crude Oil Summary

• The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.45 per barrel and is currently priced at $80.99.
• Brent crude oil rose $.15 and is currently priced at $84.58.
• One year ago, WTI crude sold for $90.66 and Brent crude was priced at $101.82.

Motor Fuels

• As of Thursday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.81 across Iowa according to AAA.
  • Prices rose 23 cents from last week’s price and are unchanged from a year ago.
  • The national average on Thursday was $3.82, up 11 cents from last week’s price.
• Retail diesel prices in Iowa rose 27 cents this week with a statewide average of $4.01.
  • One year ago, diesel prices averaged $4.89 in Iowa.
  • The current Iowa diesel price is 12 cents less than the national average of $4.13.
• Wholesale ethanol held steady and is currently priced at $2.16.
• The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.73 for U87-E10, $3.15 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $3.10 for ULSD#2, $3.61 for ULSD#1, and $2.48 per gallon for E-70 prices.

Heating Fuels

• Natural gas prices rose 1 cent at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $2.57/MMbtu.
• We will continue reporting retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa in September.
