BOONE, Iowa—Mary Elizabeth Loehr, 76, of Boone, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Mary was born on June 17, 1947, in Visalia, California, the daughter of Wallis and Grace (Beers) Walker. She graduated from Divisadero High School in Visalia. On June 20, 1978, Mary married Brian Loehr at the Little White Church in Reno, Nevada. In 2005, Mary and Brian moved to Iowa and lived on an acreage in Boone County. Following Brian’s passing in 2020, Mary moved to Alice’s Place in Boone, where she met a lot of friends.
Mary enjoyed walking to Walmart, Fareway, and the bank. She looked forward to playing cards with friends, attending bingo, and attending potlucks. Mary loved tending to her flowers and going to the Boone County Fair and Pufferbilly Days, where she always got to have her favorite foods, foot long corn dogs, and walking tacos.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Brian Loehr; parents, Wallis and Grace Walker; brothers: Stanley, Marlan, Charles, Luther, and Harry; and sister, Priscilla.
She is survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Sharon Blaskey of Boone, IA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Claudia Davis of Rockwell City, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family to use at their discretion.
