BOONE, Iowa—Jerry Wayne Cunningham, Sr., 69, of Boone, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones at his home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 P.M. – ??, Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Logue Race Shop, 1140 Montana Street, Boone, IA 50036.
Jerry was born December 14, 1953, in Des Moines, the son of James and Marcella (Pratt) Cunningham. He was employed for 40 years at the Quinn Foundry in Boone. Jerry was united in marriage to Evelyn Stevens.
Jerry enjoyed woodworking, going to the races, playing cards, camping, hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the Hunt and Fish Club.
Jerry never missed the chance to brag about winning a friendly side bet on the NASCAR race. His biggest joy was spending time with family and friends, with a band playing in his garage. Jerry will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marcella Cunningham; brother, Jimmy Cunningham and sister, Joyce Anderson.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Evelyn; five children, Veronica, Loretta, Troy, Jerry Jr., and James; 12 grandchildren; sister, Joan; brother, John; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Mister.
