Donald Lewiston

BOONE, Iowa—Donald E. Lewiston, 80, of Boone, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at home with his family by his bedside.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone.  A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Boone.

Donald was born June 12, 1943, the son of Merrill and Vivan (Purvis) Lewiston.  He grew up in the Madrid and Runnells areas, where his father had an auto salvage business and cattle farm.

Donald worked in iron work from the age of 19, until he was forced to retire in December 1996, due to a back injury.  He had previously worked at Firestone for a short time.

Donald was united in marriage to Shirley Boyce and to this union three children were born, Brad, Sue, and Scott.  They later divorced.

On March 24, 1979, Donald was united in marriage to Lynda Bielfelt and to this union two daughters were born, Kara and Kaylee.

Donald enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, deer hunting and mushroom hunting.  He enjoyed watching his favorite tv shows, Swamp People, Naked & Afraid, Alaskan Bush People, and Family Feud with his grandson, Damon.  He loved spending time with his family and especially with his great-granddaughter, Ava or as he called her, his “SpongeBob.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lynda in 2003 and sister, Marilyn Platter.

Donald is survived by his five children and their families, Brad Lewiston, Susan Lewiston (Jimmie), Scott Lewiston, Kara Lewiston (Bob) and Kaylee Bruns (Troy); 14 grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Justin, Lance, Jamie, Samantha, Abby, Damon, Dilynn (Hailey), Adyson, Bailegh, Kayden, Rylee, and Stella; two close great-grandchildren, Kaeshawn and Ava and numerous other great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Helen Bielfelt
