DES MOINES, Iowa—Widespread rainfall about last week did help alleviate some of the worst drought conditions in Iowa. The Northeast part of Iowa did see some slight improvement changing from Exceptional Drought to Extreme Drought. Locally the multiple inches of rain on Tuesday the 19th did see the southern half of drop to Moderate Drought from Severe Drought. There’s still about 96% of the state facing some level of drought this week.
