The Madrid Tigers knocked off ACGC on Friday Night 21-14 to return to the Class A Semifinals at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls for the first time since 2011. The Tigers would get on the board first as Nash Ramirez would find pay dirt from 9 yards out
Kyzyer Springer would add the extra point and Madrid led 7-0 with 1:19 to go in the 1st quarter. It would stay that way until the 3rd when ACGC would get their first points of the night, add the PAT and we were tied 7-7 with 10:40 to go in the 3rd quarter. After a Tiger fumble, the Chargers would score 5 minutes later and add the PAT to lead 14-7 with 5:05 in the 3rd quarter
Back came the Tigers and with 1:15 to go in the 3rd Quarter and Preston Wicker would find the endzone with his legs
Springer with another PAT and we were tied 14-14 late in the 3rd quarter. The Tigers would wrap up the win with an impressive drive and cap it off with an unlikely play on 4th down
Springer would add the PAT and it was 21-14 Madrid with 8:01 left. The Chargers would get together an impressive drive, convert some 4th downs and drive down inside Tiger territory, but Wicker would make sure that this night belonged to the Tigers
Madrid would run out the clock and win 21-14. The Tigers at 11-0 return to the Semifinals to play a familiar opponent……..in fact the same opponent they last played in the UNI Dome in 2011, West Hancock. The game will kickoff on November 9th at 10am. KWBG will have pregame at 9:30am.
