DES MOINES, Iowa—The U.S. Drought Monitor reported improvement in drought conditions in Iowa last week. The biggest impact was a reduction in drought conditions in Northwest Iowa where a sizable area was reduced to Abnormally Dry conditions. The worst conditions remain in Eastern Iowa and some of Northcentral Iowa were Extreme Drought conditions persist. Locally, the conditions in Boone County are not changing as about two-thirds of the county is considered to be in Moderate Drought and about a third is in Severe Drought.
