BOONE, Iowa—Boone Public Works has contracted to have sewer lining work done in the city over the next several days. The Council’s Utility Committee this week received the bid information and the low bid was awarded to ACCUJET from Perry, Iowa. ACCUJET has done work previously in the city and Public Works Director Waylon Andrews says the sewer lining they will be doing will relieve some structural issues on the current system. The Utility Committee met on Tuesday afternoon and ACCUJET began preliminary work for the sewer lining on Wednesday with Public Works notices on traffic impact released Thursday morning.
Andrews says the bulk of the work will be in two sections on Story Street, basically from Mamie Eisenhower Avenue to First Street and then Union Street to Woodland Avenue. A third portion of the sewer lining will be on 7th Street from Division Street to McPherson Street. ACCUJET bid just under $128,000 for the work. Other bids received were $144,000 and $275,000.
Traffic on Story Street and South Story will be impacted to next Tuesday the 21st and will include reduced lanes of travel in the affected area.
