BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council voted to extend the open burning of yard waste until Sunday, December 3rd at 5:00 p.m. Monday night, Mayor John Slight told the council he had received some requests for a few residents, some in the Third Ward and at least one in the Second Ward and checked to see if the Fire Department had any issues. The recommendation from Fire Chief Justin Adams was until December 3rd with an extension of the regular limitations, like yard waste only, someone must be attending the fire and it needs to be extinguished by 5:00 p.m. Slight said most of the comments were that there were still leaves on many of the trees. Only Council Member Eli Stines voted against the extension. Stines said the only comment he had received was not to extend open burning.
