BOONE, Iowa—Samual Rengert, a recent graduate with a degree in Criminal Justice from Iowa State University has elected to join the Boone Police Department. Chief John Wiebold said Rengert was one of a half dozen candidates listed on the recent accepted Civil Service list, and was offered the position following final interviews. He will be the 17th member of the department which is the last vacant position. Wiebold says he will begin working with the Departments Field Training Members and will need to attend the Law Enforcement Academy. Rengert was sworn in during the Boone City Council meeting on December 18th.
