BOONE, Iowa—Sean Patterson, 58, of Boone, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
Sean was born April 24, 1965, at the Boone County Hospital the son of Robert Patterson and Judy (née Brown) Patterson. On September 12, 2008, he married Amanda Patterson.
Sean graduated from Boone High School in 1984, and attended Northwest Missouri State University. He worked as a manager at the local Hy-Vee Grocery Store for over 20 years, becoming a familiar face for the people of Boone. Everyone who knew Sean knew they could depend on him for a friendly conversation or a laugh.
A lover of nature, he spent much of his free time outdoors, and he was the dedicated steward of his family’s land and its natural resources. He also enjoyed cycling, tennis, and various other athletic pursuits. Sean cared deeply about learning and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the past, especially local history. His storytelling was an essential part of any family gathering. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and his kindness will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Patterson; mother, Judy Patterson; and brother, Kevin Patterson.
Sean is survived by his wife, Amanda (née Messerly) Patterson; children: Alanna, Brenden, Connor, Tauri, and Brady Patterson; two brothers, Tim and Brian (Heather) Patterson; a sister, Terri Todd; niece, Rylee Patterson; nephews, Mason and Quinn Patterson; and his two dogs and three cats, none of which he asked for, all of which he loved.
A visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 P.M., Friday, January 5, 2024, in the Story Room at Cobblestone Inn & Suites, 1900 Lakewood Drive, Boone. There will be a service at 7:00 P.M., with a time of sharing. Please enter the building through the front doors.
