BOONE, Iowa–Jerry Welsh, 66, of Boone passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at his home.

Visitation is from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the funeral home.

Jerry was born June 12, 1957, in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Jerald and Rachel (Hagan) Welsh. He attended school and graduated from Pekin of Packwood High School. After high school, Jerry attended Iowa State University and started working at Hy-Vee in Ames. He ended up working at both Hy-Vee stores in Ames and that is where he met Doris Visser.

Jerry was united in marriage to Doris on October 2, 1982, at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, IA. To this union, two children were born, Alex and Alison. They made their home in the Boone area. Jerry worked in construction, first with LTT and then Teak Construction both in Ames, before starting his own construction company, Welsh Construction. He enjoyed fishing, working, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Doris Welsh; son, Alex Welsh; daughter, Alison Welsh; grandson, Oliver Owen Welsh, all of Boone; and his brother, Rick (Mindy) Welsh.
