Kahookele to Take Oath at Monday’s Council Meeting

Posted on 17 March 2024 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council will return to it’s full seven members Monday evening when Lisa Kahookele takes the oath of office to fill the vacant seat for the city’s 3rd Ward. The seat was vacated when Eli Stines stepped down and took over as Boone Mayor at the beginning of the year. The Council voted 5-to-1 in January to hold a Special Election held March 5th. Kahookele outpolled Tracy Anderson 215 to 161 votes, canvassed last week by the Boone County Supervisors. Just over 17% of the registered voters in the 3rd Ward actually voted in the Special Election. Kahookele was elected to fill the term until the next Municipal Election in November 2025.
