BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council will give consideration to an Urban Chicken Ordinance at their meeting on May 6th. Originally, it was thought the first consideration of the ordinance would have been at the April 15th meeting of the Council, but the draft was not available. At the Council’s first meeting in April, a discussion was held over a draft ordinance with some proposed changes. The Council voted 4-3 to have draft ordinance prepared for consideration.
Tuesday evening there will be Backyard Chicken Debate, in the City Hall Auditorium from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. This would not be a public hearing, but would let people offer their opinions. Those needing handicapped accessibility should use the west side entrance at city hall.
