BOONE, Iowa—Mother Nature delayed the recognition of Arbor Day in Boone pushing the formal ceremony off to Monday. Boone Mayor Eli Stines conducted the formal proclamation:

Stines then joined Boone Park Superintendent Mike Cornelis for the ceremonial tree planting at Herman Park.

The formal recognition of Arbor Day is required to maintain a Tree City status.
