DES MOINES, Iowa—The weekly U.S. Drought Monitor Map shows substantial improvement in the past week. The map, released Tuesday, shows how conditions improved in Iowa through the weekend. The total area impacted by drought has now decreased to just over 37% and the intensity has diminished as well, with only Moderate to Severe Drought conditions reported. Individually, Boone County has improved to about 72% considered Abnormally Dry and about 28% in southern Boone County in Moderate Drought.
