BOONE, Iowa—Judith E. Edwards, 82, of Boone, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Judith was born in Massena, IA, on October 16, 1941, the daughter of Lawrence and Marjorie (Alloway) Ford. She graduated from Cumberland Massena High School in 1959.

On June 14, 1959, Judith was united in marriage to Larry Edwards in Bridgewater, IA.

In 1969, Judith started working as a secretary at Lincoln Elementary in Boone. They then moved to Creston, IA, and Judith became very involved in their church and volunteering. In 1978, they moved back to Boone, and Judith worked for a short time in a daycare before becoming an administrative assistant at Rolfes. She later retired from Fareway Corporate as an administrative assistant.

Judith loved her family (especially the grandchildren) and spending time together. While living further than they wished from the grandkids, they were fortunate for the time they spent together. The Edwards family took many family trips, including Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Forest, Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains and Alaska.

Judith was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers, and spending time with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Louis and Reba Edwards; husband of 63 years, Larry Edwards in 2022; brother, Roger Ford; sister-in-law, Joan (Francis) David; and brother-in-law, Donnie Erickson.

Judith is survived by her son, Mike (Tammy) Edwards of Council Bluffs; daughter, Lisa (Terry) Lingner of Dallas Center; two grandchildren, Adam Edwards and Kelsey (Jake) McKenzie all of Council Bluffs; great-grandson, Brooks McKenzie of Council Bluffs; sister, Nancy Erickson of Red Oak; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, 703 Arden Street, in Boone. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in the Greenfield Cemetery.
