Boone – The Boone Municipal Band will resume its summer concerts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Herman Park Pavilion in Boone.
The group is excited to continue its partnership with the Ericson Public Library this summer. The library will be present at the Wednesday concerts, and people can sign up for a free Ericson Public Library card at that time.
The band will participate in the library’s kickoff carnival from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 3, and the two groups will host a kids’ concert on Wednesday, June 19, at the pavilion. In addition, the children’s storybook character “Zoom Squirrel” will visit the band’s final concert on July 17.
The schedule changes slightly in July with a patriotic concert on Thursday, July 4, followed by the City of Boone fireworks.
The Boone band will host the annual Iowa Municipal Band Festival at the pavilion from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. Nine bands from across central Iowa will play a concert at the top of the hour, small groups will perform in between the bands, and Boone will play the final concert of the festival.
