OGDEN, Iowa—Blayne Jaymes Stoneburner, 17, of Ogden, also known as “Blayner Bear” to his mama, “My Blayne” to his baby sister, “Dude or Bro” to his brothers and friends, went to live his eternal life in paradise on May 16, 2024 after a tragic accident that took a bright light from this world way too soon. Blayne was born in Boone on October 2, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Lynch and Russell Stoneburner and his cousins Brian and Jarrett Stoneburner.
He is survived by his parents Cleo (Michaelle) Stoneburner and Jayme Stoneburner (Bryant Kirton). His many siblings; Brandon (Tia) Stoneburner, Kylie (Andrew) Pierce, Samantha (Isidro) Garcia, Tyler Gustoff, Parker Stoneburner, Storm Jaeger, “Irish Twin” Cale Stoneburner, and baby sister Neytiri Kirton. Grandparents, Richard and Jeanne Sorsen and Shirley Riley. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Blayne was a student at Ogden High School and worked at Casey’s in Ogden. It is no secret he was not a fan of school…he enjoyed being social with friends and teachers and watching his peers play sports…not so much the work. But he never gave up and he was going to graduate next year and go on the senior trip…he was looking forward to that. He planned to do a trade after graduation, maybe be an electrical lineman. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers and friends, gaming with his buddies, camping, and just hanging out. He loved music and driving around with his friends. He loved to travel and embraced the beauty in the world around him.
He loved bacon, oreos, chicken strips, shrimp alfredo, and his step mom’s meatloaf. He was always asking “what’s for supper, when will supper be done?” Then when it was ready he would say, “just a minute, I’m in the middle of a round.” He was thrilled to have a baby sister and doted on her so much. He would take her to the park to play or McDonalds for “chicken uggets.” She would cry at the window when he left “Blayne, come back.”
He was the “life of the party” and always wanting to have a good time and make people laugh. No matter who you were or where you were from Blayne could see the best in you and showed kindness. He would want to be remembered for being goofy and making people smile. He would want his time on earth to have made a difference to people. If Blayne believed in something he was so confident in his belief and he definitely believed in himself.
One thing that made Blayne different from most people is he had a level of determination you could not imagine. If this boy wanted something done it was getting done one way or another! His confidence in himself and his beliefs was immeasurable. He always advocated for the ones who could not do it themselves and when you needed something you could always call him. He was the definition of loyalty and could always be counted on by his friends and family. The goofiest, funniest, most joyful kid you could ever meet. His ability to turn any situation into a happy lighthearted memory was beautiful and will never be forgotten. There are so many people who have been impacted in the most positive way by this absolutely beautiful soul.
It is impossible to capture everything he was and how much he was loved in words; it is impossible to believe he is gone. He will live on for us. He will be talked about every single day and remembered for the amazing soul he was. He would want nothing more than for people to tell his stories and let him live on forever in our hearts and words and laughter.
Blayne’s earthly body will be cremated, not seeing him smiling and laughing and full of life would not be natural. We know we will see him laughing and smiling again in Heaven because we know he had God in his heart and that is where our son is now.
A visitation and memorial service will take place Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Ogden High School Gymnasium with Pastor Brad Burkhart of Cornerstone Church in Boone officiating. Visitation is from 9:00 – 11:00 AM with family present, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Following the service, there will be a gathering in the Ogden City Park for food and fellowship.
“…Never had I imagined living without your smile
Feeling and knowing you hear me it keeps me alive, alive…”
