BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has released preliminary information on last Tuesday’s three vehicle accident that occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Y Avenue at 190th Street. According to the report, a vehicle, operated by Lyle Lind of Boone was traveling north on Y Avenue and attempted to make a left turn onto 190th Street. A second vehicle, traveling south and operated by Josie Dukes of rural Boone County collided with the turning vehicle. The report says Dukes vehicle rolled several times before coming to a rest in the west ditch of Y Avenue south of the intersection. Authorities described Lind’s vehicle as being almost sheered in half on the passenger side. A third vehicle at the intersection on 190th Street was operated by Darwati Corder of Boone sustained some front end damage but remained operable and Corder was not injured. Lind was extracated from the wreckage and was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center with possible serious injuries while Dukes sustained minor injuries to her forearms and was not apparently transported. Authorities report that Lind will be issued a citation for failure to yield right of way while making a left turn. There’s been no update on Lind’s condition. Multiple agencies from Boone and Story Counties assisted at the scene.
